What the experts have to say

“As a climber and a physical therapist, a climbing dome is the first thing I recommend to families. It builds grip strength, coordination and body awareness at once, and no kid experiences it as exercise.”

Much more than a dome

A real climbA real climbA real climb

A real climb

Sixteen grips molded in one piece from an actual climbing wall, not knobs bolted onto a frame.

A boost to climb at three, hanging upside down at ten. Same dome. Nothing to outgrow, nothing to replace.

Rain, snow, sprinklers, sun. The steel is coated to fight rust, so the dome that's still out there in year five looks like the one you built.

Climb it, hang from it, rest in the hammock, throw a sheet over it and disappear. One structure, four games.

Amazon · 10 ft dome owner

It is big, and a real climb, and sturdy enough that the adults can climb too.

Amazon · 10 ft dome owner

They climb on it, use it as a playhouse with a blanket over top, pretend it's a space ship :)

Amazon · 10 ft dome owner

I kid you not, my kids are outside 80% of the day just climbing this thing!

Amazon · 10 ft dome owner

I wanted to make sure I find one that all my kids can use, they are between ages 4-9 and this was perfect.

Manuals and the full step-by-step guide

Questions we get asked

Does it really take two adults to assemble?

Yes. Two adults, the printed manual and the two tools that come in the box. Every tube is lettered on both ends (A to C on Base Camp, B to N on Summit, B and P to U on Lookout), so you match letters instead of guessing lengths.

What's in the box?

Base Camp ships in one carton: 65 tubes, 16 grips, the hammock with its 10 snap links, the hardware, two tools, a spare parts bag and the printed manuals. Summit ships in 3 boxes: 66 tubes, 19 grips, the hammock with 6 snap links, the hardware, 6 ground stakes, two tools, a spare parts bag and the manuals. Lookout ships as 4 boxes in 2 master cartons: 95 tubes, 26 grips, the hammock with its 10 snap links, the hardware, two tools, a spare parts bag and the manuals.

What ages is it for?

Ages 3 to 10, with an adult watching. It is made for private residential use outdoors, not for daycares, schools or parks.

How much space do I need?

Base Camp is 10 ft across and 5.1 ft tall, and needs a 23 ft (7.05 m) square of clear, level ground. Summit is 8.4 ft across and 7.45 ft tall, and needs a 21 ft 6 in (6.56 m) square. Lookout is 10 ft across and 6.5 ft tall, on the same 23 ft (7.05 m) square as Base Camp. All three leave 79 in (2 m) on every side, over a surface that cushions a fall.

Can it stay outside all year?

Yes. The tubes are powder-coated, anti-rust steel, 25 mm across. Check every bolt twice a month.

How much weight does it hold?

600 lb combined on the structure. The hammock is for up to 2 kids, 330 lb.

What if a part is missing?

Check the inventory list in the manual before you start. A spare parts bag ships in every box, and if something is still missing, contact ActiveJoy and we send it.

How much is shipping?

Free: every order over $99 ships free, and the dome is one of them. Orders placed before 12:00 PM PT on a business day ship the same day, and most arrive in 2–5 business days. We ship to the 48 contiguous United States.

What's the warranty?

5 years on the structure, against defects in material and workmanship, for private residential use. And if you register your dome, we replace broken parts free for as long as you own it. See Warranty & Replacement Parts.
